Accessible Psychotherapy Through NIHB Coverage
NIHB-covered therapy provides accessible mental health support for eligible First
Nations and Inuit clients, helping reduce financial barriers to care. It offers a safe and
supportive space to address emotional, relational, and life challenges while working
toward healing and well-being. Accessing therapy through NIHB can support improved
mental health, resilience, and overall quality of life.
Donna offers trauma-informed, culturally responsive care that
recognizes individuals may carry not only personal experiences of trauma,
but also, the impact of intergenerational and historical trauma passed down
through families and communities over time. This can include the lasting
effects of residential schools, systemic discrimination, cultural loss, and
experiences of abuse, displacement, or forced separation across
generations.
This approach honors the deep and complex ways these experiences can
shape emotional well-being, relationships, identity, and one’s sense of
safety in the world. Therapy is offered in a gentle, respectful, and non-
judgmental space, where clients are supported at their own pace and
emotional safety, trust, and choice are prioritized.
