About Me

Donna Milton is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). She offers a warm, compassionate, and grounded approach to therapy, creating a space where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported. Donna believes healing happens within a safe and trusting relationship, and she is committed to meeting each person with care, respect, and understanding as they navigate life’s challenges and transitions.

Donna brings many years of frontline experience working within shelter systems across the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding communities. In these roles, she supported individuals and families experiencing homelessness, housing instability, substance use concerns, and involvement with the legal and court systems. Her work spans across the lifespan, from infants and children to older adults, supporting both emotional and practical needs such as housing, community resources, and independent living. This hands-on experience has given her a deep appreciation for the resilience people carry, even in the most difficult circumstances.

She has extensive experience in addiction and recovery work, including withdrawal management, treatment centres, structured recovery programs, and aftercare support. Donna has worked closely with individuals and families impacted by substance use, intergenerational trauma, and family violence, including sexual abuse. She also has experience facilitating the Partner Assault Response (PAR) Program and supporting individuals involved in provincial and federal correctional systems as they reintegrate into the community. Through this work, she has developed a strong ability to support people through complex trauma with patience, steadiness, and care.

Donna has also worked with diverse communities, including newcomers to Canada and individuals from a wide range of cultural backgrounds who accessed support through shelter and community systems. She has volunteered with organizations such as Covenant House, Salvation Army programs, EHN Bellwood, St. Leonard’s, Sexual Assault Centres, and CAMH withdrawal services. These experiences reflect her long-standing commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and walking alongside people in moments of crisis and recovery.

In addition to her frontline and volunteer work, Donna is dedicated to ongoing learning and professional development. She regularly attends trainings and conferences to remain current in trauma-informed and evidence-based approaches, including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT). She brings these approaches into her work in a way that is flexible, responsive, and centred on each client’s unique needs.

Donna’s work is rooted in compassion, connection, and a deep belief in people’s capacity for healing. Her strength as a therapist lies in her ability to create safety, build trusting relationships, and support clients at their own pace. She is honoured to walk alongside individuals, couples, and families as they move toward healing, resilience, and meaningful change.
